Progressing your career with us

We take our people’s progression and development seriously. We support your career development in a variety of ways, including training courses tailored to your role, and regular opportunities to share knowledge with and learn from colleagues.

Everyone at DLUHC is expected to spend at least 5 days per year on their professional development. We encourage our people to do more, through a number of routes that we are continually developing to support them.

Learning and development

We are building clear career pathways to allow current and aspiring digital professionals to pursue fulfilling careers and enable people to move between disciplines and job families.

We also have a number of professional apprenticeships, development and qualifications programmes for our specialists that help them grow both their technical and leadership skills.

In addition, we are exposed to a wide variety of projects, which helps our people learn and develop their experience and new skills faster.

“When you join DLUHC, you can expect that you’ll be supported. We really invest in learning and development, encourage people to learn by doing and give them the space to be bold and innovate.”

Gill Stewart, Chief Digital Officer

Communities of practice

We also have a number of active communities of practice across user-centred design, product, delivery and tech, and continue to grow more of them, to enable our people to exchange ideas, solve problems together, learn and grow professionally.

You will have regular opportunities to share knowledge with colleagues, join show and tell sessions, and access government digital and data community networks.

“I genuinely couldn’t feel more supported in my role with DLUHC. It’s been the most supportive and encouraging work environment I’ve experienced. The opportunities for growth and development are fantastic, with a genuine opportunity to work on products and services that make a huge difference in the lives of millions of people across the UK.”

Evan, Senior Agile Delivery Manager
